People fish for different reasons. For some, fishing is something that allows them to pass the time as they bond with their children. To others, fishing is a full-time career and a way of life. One thing for sure, different groups will use different fishing techniques. Here are a few facts you might not know about fishing techniques.
Angling
This is the most common fishing technique you will find especially among small scale fishers or people who do it for fun. This is where a line and a hook are attached to a fishing rod. A bait is then used to lure the fish to the hook. It is almost like bank fishing, though bank fishing can use other pieces of equipment such as small nets. If you are really good at angling, you might even catch yourself a shark.
Chartered Fishing
For this technique, one goes to fish during a trip. It could be with or without a tour guide.
Drop Lining
When you add more hooks and drop the line down without casting it far into the water, you practice drop lining. The hooks may not be as many as those of longline fishing, but the technique is almost similar to both angling and longline fishing.
Fly Fishing
Another exciting way to fish is by using artificial flies to lure fish to one’s line. One may also consider this as another type of angling. In this case, the practice is carried out off the river banks or while standing in the water. It is an older form of angling and was used for salmon, trout, bass and other types of fish.
Hand-Gathering
When the fish are in plenty, and the water is safe, some people catch the fish with their own hands. This is referred to as hand-gathering.
The fishing methods discussed above can be used by professionals as well as people who just fish for fun.
